For the sensual mapping I wanted to take on the hearing since there are a lot of busy road in my area.
And I wanted to see how far the sounds could go

I drew my square on google maps and cycled around the whole area while recording with my phone.
























The screenshot below shows the recordings and the amount of decibels.

From that I went further with my Idea.

I devided my area in grid of squares of 10x10, so I have a total of 100 squares.

From each square I wanted to make a pillar with its own hight. The hight would be the same amount of decibels I measured in that area.

So 56dB would be 56mm high.

So I started to give every square its own hight.

Every.

Single.

One.

After applying the hight to every square, this was the end result.

Its funny to see the simalarities between the real map and the sense-map. You can still locatie the highway, busy streets and the quite neighborhoods
